The Low Bros is an artist duo, which is made up of brothers Christoph and Florin Schmidt – formerly active as graffiti writers Qbrk and Nerd.
The artist duo are Illustrators and urban artists based in Berlin and Hamburg.
Formed in 2011 and has since created numerous thematic series featuring their characters. Their mural, canvas and multimedia projects, as well as their installations have been featured in group shows and solo exhibitions around the world.
Their unique work stands out due to the intricate fusion of clean geometrical shapes, bold silhouettes, mystical depths and expressive colours. Their work most often centers around stylized animal characters with human features, and addresses graffiti, hip hop, skateboarding, video games, psychedelic shapes, colours and other elements which influenced and shaped the artists’ youth in the 1980s and 1990s.
The work of the artist duo is fueled by the complex interaction between two-dimensionality and three-dimensionality. It is the synergy of geometric and flowing organic shapes, cubic effects, expressive color grids and multifaceted patterns that brings their work to life.
The accentuated play of light and shadow intensifies the contrast and unites the seemingly un-unitable, such as street life and subtle natural mystique. This is done, however, in a rather light-hearted way, thanks to many humorous details, which become apparent upon closer examination. While the poses of the characters in the painted scenes come off as macho and overly masculine, a closer look quickly reveals that the Low Bros art is not taken too seriously.

Great post Hannah!! I love the images you used to portray the work of The Low Bros 🙂 Their work is very distinctive and recognisable through the use of geometric shapes in particular which they colour in a way that adds dimension. I really admire people who have the capacity and skill to produce works of art on such a large scale and maintain the intended balance and perspective. Their style is very unique and I love the way they cleverly separate their characters into layers but maintain a sense of continuity, balance and harmony. Another aspect of their work I love is the way they use repetition of shapes which look like they belong but on closer inspection are not what you expected to see (eg the use of an apple and an orange for eyes in the image of the tiger holding a cocktail).
